Weekend Wrap Up

This was a weekend spent in three places: Hollywood, a flea market and my apartment.  It started with a night sipping whiskey at The Den in West Hollywood with my friends Alex, Nick and Mike.  If you’re ever in Los Angeles, and want to look for a laid back bar in the center of Hollywood’s buzz, I highly suggest you come here.  There’s a large patio heated by a fire pit so you can sit under the stars (okay, billboard lights since you can’t see stars) while having a conversation with your friends that you can actually hear.

Saturday, I spent exactly an hour reorganizing my dresser, and then an additional 3.5 hours organizing my closet.  Let me just tell you that I’m not the kind of girl who has EVER had an organized closet.  It usually functions as an extension of whatever I can’t haphazardly fit into my dresser.  The only way to tackle this task, which has been on my To-Do list for way too long, was to empty it out and start over.  What better way to get along with household chores than to do it while watching Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 AND Part 2?  My rewatching of the same scene in Part 2 three times may have accounted for the extended amount of time (3.5 hours) it took for me to clean my closet.

After tackling my closet and sweeping up every last speck of dust in my apartment, I was famished.  Apparently so was everyone else…

Line waiting for a table at Daikokuya. 2 hour wait. I told you it is THE BEST place for Ramen in city.

But THIS is worth the 2 hour wait.

And then there was Sunday.  Which means Ashley and I marched down to the Melrose Trading Post.  In all honesty, it’s a glamorized flea market with amazing and affordable finds.  What you’ll find here if you ever visit are handmade or vintage furniture, handmade jewelry, boots that you see every hipster guy and gal wear, and lots of $5 sunglasses.
I blogged about being on the hunt for a nice table to put into my apartment.  Well, I found one.  I bought it from a very nice vendor named Chris.  It was a whopping $125 for both table AND matching bench.  It had the perfect dimensions to fit nicely into my apartment without taking up too much space, and the finish of the wood coincidentally matches my long floor to ceiling curtains.  If you think Chris looks familiar, you might recognize him from How to Lose A Guy in 10 Days.  He plays Matthew Mcconaughey’s brother (I’m not bullshitting).
This now functions as my work desk AND my indoor dining table, facing TV and beautiful view of the hills.
That just about wraps it for my weekend.  I think I was fairly productive these past two days.
